On these hikes, you will become a mythbuster as we learn what's true and what's false about bats and why they're critical to many ecosystems around the world. We'll also use our special equipment to detect and identify the bat species at the nature center as they fly above us!

When: March 22nd, April 26th & May 24th

Pricing: Non-members $14 per person, Members $12 per person

Teachers can earn 2 SBEC hours for participating in this activity. Please indicate when booking that you would like to receive SBEC hours.

Know before you go

  • The maximum capacity for a hike is 10 people

  • We recommend that you bring water and insect repellent

  • If you have red lights, feel free to bring them with you

  • We recommend that you wear long pants for the hike

  • Closed toe shoes are required on the hike. Participants without proper footwear will not be able to participate.

  • These hikes are for ages 6 and up

  • The hike will be approximately 1.5 to 2 hours

  • Reservations are required


Payment of fees is needed to complete your registration and is non-refundable unless the program/class/activity is cancelled by Armand Bayou Nature Center (ABNC) staff. If ABNC cancels for any reason, you will be given the option of applying the fees to another program or a refund.  

If you must cancel, please notify ABNC at least seven (7) days prior to the program/class/activity. If you inform us at least one week before, we will issue you a credit voucher for the full amount of your payment that may be applied to another ABNC program fee or a membership. Any non-attendance or cancellation less than seven (7) days will result in the full charge of the fee. ABNC does not give cash refunds.
