Birds abound at Armand Bayou Nature Center! See bird specimens and artifacts and play fun games as you discover how bird's adaptations help them survive. Stop by the red-tailed hawk exhibit to observe some birds of prey up-close.
Then learn few birding tips and search for birds in forest, prairie and pond habitats on a guided hike.
Grades K- 5th ~ Time 10:00 am - 12:00 noon ~ Group Limit Minimum 10 ~ Fee $10.00/participant (children and adults)
One chaperone or teacher per 10 participants is free of charge. A 10-to-1 ratio of students to adults is required.
Objectives
Students will:
Observe and describe bird specimens.
Identify bird adaptations, such as hollow bones, feathers, and specially shaped feet and beaks.
Match bird beaks and feet to their corresponding foods and environments.
Look for birds in their natural habitats.
